If a picture is worth a thousand words imagine what a sequence of images or a short video can do - especially when you pair it with a heartfelt caption.
You’ve already got the stories (you were there, after all!). Now it’s time to repurpose that gold into reels or carousel posts - the two most powerful formats for celebrants on Instagram and Facebook right now. Here’s how:
Carousel Posts – Swipeable Stories
Instead of sharing just one photo from a wedding, choose 5–10 images that capture the emotional arc of the day. Think of it like a mini photo album. You might include:
1. A behind-the-scenes moment (the couple getting ready or sharing a nervous laugh)
2. A wide shot of the ceremony setup
3. That 'first look' moment
4. A close-up of the couple during the vows
5. A joyful post-ceremony shot (confetti, hugs, cheers!)
Caption it with a personal story from your perspective, and end with an invitation: “Which moment would you include in your dream ceremony?”
Reels - Bring the Emotion to Life
Don’t worry, you don’t need to dance or point at floating text! You just need a strong narrative and a little visual rhythm.
Simple celebrant reel ideas:
- Voiceover: Record yourself narrating a beautiful ceremony moment (you can even repurpose text from a real ceremony with permission), and layer it over a video montage or slow scroll of wedding photos.
- Before & After: Use a trending audio to show the venue before guests arrive, and then after it’s filled with people, laughter and love.
- “Did you know?” reel: Share a quick celebrant fact or tip while showing clips from a recent ceremony. For example: "Did you know you can include a ring-warming ritual to involve your guests in the ceremony? Here’s how one couple did it…"
- Pair with heartfelt music, and always add subtitles so people can watch with sound off.
Top Tips for Both Formats:
- Always tag the photographer
- Use local hashtags as well as niche ones: #ChristchurchWeddings #NZCelebrant #WeddingReel
- Make sure your first image (for carousels) or the reel thumbnail is eye-catching - this is what 'stops the scroll'.
Let your content be more than beautiful. Let it move people. When you show how much you care about the couples you work with and the stories you tell, potential clients will feel drawn to you before they even enquire.
