By Anna Flanagan, President, Celebrants Aotearoa

As we approach the end of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a busy, thoughtful, and meaningful year for us as celebrants.

One of the real highlights was coming together for conference in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. It was a wonderful occasion that brought celebrants from across the motu together in one place. The learning, kōrero, and strong sense of whanaungatanga reminded me just how generous and connected our profession is when we take the time to gather face to face. Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, supported, and helped make that time together so special.

I would also like to sincerely thank our National Executive for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. The mahi they undertake, often behind the scenes, makes a real difference to our members and to the future of our association. My thanks also extend to our Support team, whose commitment and care help keep everything running smoothly.

This year we farewelled three members of the National Executive: Rachel Clarke, Elaine Spearman, Helen O'Shaugnessy. Each made a significant contribution during their time, and I want to acknowledge their service, leadership, and generosity. We are grateful for the legacy they leave behind.

As we look ahead to 2026, we carry forward the learnings, insights, and connections from this year into our mahi. With a strong foundation, I'm excited about what lies ahead.

As the festive season approaches, I wish you all a safe, restful, and joyful break. May it be a time to reconnect, recharge, and enjoy precious moments with whānau and friends.
