In today’s digital landscape, glowing reviews and heartfelt testimonials can be some of the most powerful tools in a celebrant’s online toolkit. With couples and families increasingly turning to social media to find the perfect celebrant, your online reputation can be the deciding factor. Here’s how to use client testimonials and reviews to your best advantage across your social platforms.

Choose the right testimonials

Not all reviews are created equal. The best testimonials are those that are specific, authentic, and emotionally resonant. Look for feedback that tells a story - perhaps a couple praising how you made their ceremony deeply personal, or a family touched by your empathy during a memorial service. These personal touches help potential clients imagine what it would be like to work with you.

Create eye-catching visuals

People scroll quickly through social media, so presentation is key. Turn testimonials into engaging graphics using your brand colours, favourite fonts, and high-quality imagery - ideally from the event itself, with permission. (As I mentioned in last month's column, Canva and similar tools offer easy-to-use templates that look professional and polished.)

Use video testimonials

Video adds a personal, dynamic element that written words can’t always capture. If a couple is happy to speak on camera about their experience, even a short 30-second clip can have a big impact. Keep it natural and genuine - polished but not overly produced.

Incorporate testimonials into stories and highlights

Instagram and Facebook stories are perfect for sharing quick testimonials. Save these to a dedicated Highlight labelled 'Reviews' or 'Kind Words' so new visitors can access them easily. Stories offer a casual way to share feedback without cluttering your main feed.

Pair testimonials with photos from the ceremony

This is especially powerful for celebrants. Post a beautiful image from the event alongside the testimonial - seeing your work in context makes the praise even more believable and relatable. Always get consent from your clients before posting any images.

Encourage clients to leave reviews

After each ceremony, kindly ask for feedback. Provide links to where they can leave reviews - Google, Facebook, or even your own website. Timing is important: a day or two after the ceremony is often ideal, while the experience is still fresh in their minds.

Feature testimonials in your bio or pinned posts

Your bio or pinned posts (on platforms like Facebook or Instagram) are prime real estate. A short, impactful quote such as, "You made our wedding unforgettable – thank you!” can instantly convey trustworthiness and warmth to new visitors.

Celebrate milestones using testimonials

Mark milestones such as your 100th ceremony or a year in business by curating a collection of favourite reviews. These posts feel celebratory and humble at the same time - plus, they provide social proof of your growing experience.

Be gracious and responsive

When someone leaves a public review or comment, always respond with thanks. It shows appreciation, maintains goodwill, and demonstrates that you're an attentive, caring professional - something people value immensely in a celebrant.
